In January, 2005, Quantegy, the last remaining manufacturer of professional analog
recording tape and the only U.S. recording tape manufacturer, ceased operations
and filed for bankruptcy. The plant closing marks the end of an era in American
recording technology. While our Studer tape machines are maintained in peak operating
condition for both playback and recording, we can no longer consider analog output
a viable delivery option for audio preservation.
Studer A80, with Class A playback/record electronics and no stationary guides in the tape path. They'll even library-wind tape without touching the heads! Ideal for archival work.
